Mission Statement

Colonel Georges Guinguoin, who amongst others, unified resistance in the Limousin, should have been acknowledged as one of France's greatest wartime heroes. On the contrary, he was almost completely unknown outside of his own region, Limousin, and, in some circles, was vilified as a traitor, a murderer and a self-seeking politician.

It is our belief that the criticism levelled at Guingouin during his life was both shameful and unjustified and that, rather than being criticised, his memory should be respected and honoured.

Guingouin's life story, in our opinion, is one of undoubted heroism, of principled defiance and courageous leadership, qualities that should be recognised and viewed as an inspiration for everyone.

We can only hope that this website will maintain the spirit of those who have fought against political tyranny, historical ignorance and unfounded criticism in whatever form they may take.
